You no longer need to travel far to receive the best cancer care anywhere. The Cancer Center at Nyack Hospital provides innovative, evidence-based care—all close to home. Having cancer is challenging—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Receiving treatments close to home, near family and friends, can make a world of difference in your energy levels and state of mind.
Our physicians are trained in leading-edge treatments and technology at the country’s most respected academic centers. These affiliations give our physicians unique access to the latest information, consultation, and referrals—an advantage not often associated with community hospital cancer programs. Our Breast Fellowship-trained radiologists specialize in breast imaging and evaluation imaging studies.
The Cancer Center features a comprehensive clinical research program with open treatment protocols for various types and stages of cancer. We have on-site availability and swift referrals to board-certified, fellowship-trained physicians in major oncology specialties. In addition, we offer a variety of classes and support groups that provide for the physical, mental and emotional care of those undergoing cancer treatments. We are accredited by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer (ACoS,CoC) and National Accreditation Program Breast Center (NAPBC). We conduct weekly multi-disciplinary consultative cancer conferences. These conferences are attended by multiple specialists in each discipline. Recommendations for treatment are based on the consensus opinions of the group of specialists, with consultation from their colleagues in other specialty areas, including but not limited to, radiology, pathology, surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, research, and others. Patient cases that would benefit from a team review are reviewed by our Cancer Conferences/Tumor Boards. All essential elements are evaluated for each patient and include: AJCC TNM staging, reference to evidence-based NCCN cancer treatment guidelines, access/options for clinical trials, referrals to supportive services etc. Treatment plans are developed based on the AJCC stage, prognostic factors, and evidence-based guidelines. The end result is an elevated quality of care for all patients.
With all that we offer, it’s no surprise that we are among a select group of hospitals that has been accredited as a Community Comprehensive Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons.
