Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) utilizes magnetic fields instead of radiation to obtain highly detailed pictures of the body. The images are created with a very strong magnet, which causes water molecules inside the body to move. A computer detects the movement and convert it into images. The images are displayed on a computer screen, stored within the computer, or transferred to film.
