HARVEST MOON HAPPENING BRINGS TOGETHER COMMUNITY AND HOSPITAL, RAISES $350,000 FOR BREAST CARE SERVICES AT NYACK HOSPITAL
At the recent Harvest Moon Happening to benefit Nyack Hospital, over 300 guests danced by the light of the moon to raise more than $350,000 towards the purchase of state-of-the-art digital mammography equipment used in the early detection of breast cancer. Members of the Palisades community partnered together to form the Hudson Families for Health, with the goal of raising funds for Nyack Hospital. This lavish event, held under the stars at the Thomas Lamont Mansion, featured the Brazilian rhythms of Samba New York, fine wines and the exquisite food of award-winning chef Peter X. Kelly. The evening included a live auction of exclusive items by Sotheby’s auctioneer Eliza Osborne, a video welcome from Actor-Comedian Bill Murray, and a silent auction of exciting goods and services. Throughout the evening, guests delighted in the music of the Peter Anderson Orchestra. Everyone in attendance was moved by the announcement that area residents Jerome and Simona Chasen pledged their commitment to Nyack Hospital by donating $250,000. This donation provided the highlight to an evening full of excitement and goodwill. In addition, a special introduction and welcome was given to M. Michele Blackwood, MD, Director of Breast and Women’s Health Prevention Services at Nyack Hospital. Dr. Blackwood spoke about how the acquisition of digital mammography equipment enablesNyack Hospital to continue providing leading-edge technology to the women in Rockland County.
